The In-Home Personal Care Attendant is responsible for providing compassionate and professional personal care, assisting with activities of daily living, and empowering consumers to maintain their independence while ensuring their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This role involves adhering to care plans, maintaining confidentiality, and documenting services accurately and in compliance with company policies and state regulations. What will I do?
- Provide personal care, assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), and empower consumers to maximize their independence.
- Ensure consumers receive attention that encourages physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
- Provide comfort, privacy, and dignity to consumers while maintaining a professional and caring interaction.
- Perform infection control procedures (e.g., handwashing, glove use, and proper disposal of soiled materials, including PPE).
- Assist consumers with meals, nourishment, and hydration.
- Follow care plans/services authorized by relevant agencies or private pay contracts.
- Communicate effectively with management, consumers, staff, and volunteers to ensure quality care.
- Adhere to safety rules and proper body mechanics during all tasks.
- Follow verbal and written instructions from the supervisor.
- Report changes in the consumer's condition to the supervisor immediately.
- Understand and uphold consumer rights, including reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information, whether electronic, written, or verbal.
- Follow a weekly schedule provided by the supervisor.
- Stay at the consumer's home for the time allotted in the care plan.
- Document work using our electronic visit verification tracking system, including service start and stop times and task descriptions.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly per company policies.
- Attend and participate in required training, seminars, and continuing education programs.
- Maintain compliance with FCSR, OIG, and EDL to remain eligible for employment.
- Observe all policies and procedures, including safety, infection control, and consumer rights.
Position requirements:
- Must have transportation and provide proof of vehicle insurance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- One of the following qualifications is required:
- A minimum of six (6) months of paid experience in a caregiving role, such as Homemaker, Nurse Aide, or Household Worker.
- At least one year of paid or unpaid experience caring for children, elderly, or sick individuals.
- Successful completion of formal training in basic nursing arts, nursing assistant training, or home health aide training.
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in good standing with the state of Missouri.
