The Assistive Technology Specialist is responsible for supporting the Access Services Department by assisting in coordinating the durable medical equipment (DME) Reuse Program, the Golden Technology sales, demonstrations on low vision and other accessibility equipment. This role also involves providing direct consumer services, maintaining accurate records, and fostering positive relationships within the community to promote independent living and assistive technology programs.

What will I do?

  • Provide direct contact and phone calls with consumers, offering information, education, referrals, and fostering relationships in the community.
  • Conduct intake processes for new consumers, update records, and provide services as needed.
  • Organize and schedule consumer appointments, ensuring timely coordination.
  • Conduct demonstrations of accessibility equipment to assist in the selection of devices that work best for individuals (training provided).
  • Manage equipment requests from the DME Reuse Program, cleaning, ensuring availability, tagging, and appropriate distribution.
  • Distribute equipment to consumers or their representatives on-site or off-site using the company vehicle. Accept community donations of durable medical equipment (on and off -site) and provide donors with charitable donation forms.
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments to go over Golden Technologies products and complete paperwork and documentation for sales.
  • Provide excellent customer service by being helpful, courteous, and responsive to requests for information or assistance.
  • Accurately document case notes, maintain case files and perform follow-up activities in compliance with program regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure prompt and accurate responses to consumer service requests.

Position requirements:

  • Associate degree or higher is preferred in a health-related field.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and an understanding of the independent living philosophy is preferred.
  • A healthcare background is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, and less than 3 points on driver's record.
